Chicago Cubs Fans Celebrate Cubs World Series Championship
After 108 years the Chicago Cubs won World Series 2016 beating the Cleveland Indians 8-7. In an exciting winner take all game 7, the Chicago Cubs persevered in 10 innings to win the title in Cleveland. More than 5 million people attended the Cubs parade that took place Friday, November 4, 2016.
The City of Chicago dyed the Chicago River blue to celebrate the Cubs victory. The parade, according to the statistics made it the 7th largest gathering of people in the world. Fans carried signs that expressed their elation at the Cubs victory.
The story of the curse of the goat came from the 1945 World Series when a Cub fan by name of William Sianis brought his pet goat, Murphy to the the World Series Game 7 but was asked to leave the park because Murphy had an odor. Out of anger, Murphy shouted "Them Cubs, they ain't gonna win no more."
In an historic victory on October 22, the Chicago Cubs beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0 in game 6 the National League Championship.
For the second time since 1945, the Chicago Cubs will play in a winner takes all Game 7 at the World Series.
